Bringing Support Directly to Your Doorstep

For 28 years, we have served as a lifeline for families in Monroe County. But we’ve realized that providing world-class care isn't enough if you can’t get through our doors. To bridge that gap, we are proud to introduce the Caregiver Caravan—a premium service available exclusively to families currently registered in our Adult Day Service program. It is our commitment to ensuring those who rely on us for daily care also have the mobility they need to stay connected to our community.

While our urban neighbors have access to public transit, those in our rural communities often face a "transportation desert." Lower income levels and geographic isolation make it nearly impossible for many elderly caregivers—often caring for a spouse—to attend the support they desperately need. Even with a personal vehicle, the physical challenge of safely assisting a loved one in and out of a car can be an insurmountable barrier.

The Solution: The Caregiver Caravan will soon be able to, thanks to our generous funders, we are launching a specialized mobile initiative designed to bridge this gap. Our new "Caravan" vehicle is:

  • Fully Accessible: Designed for safety and ease of use for both participants and elderly caregivers.
  • Volunteer-Powered: Driven by trained community members who understand the unique needs of our families.
  • More than a Ride: The journey is the destination. By removing caregivers from their familiar (and often stressful) home environments, we provide them the mental space to relax, engage, and connect.

What to Expect Whether it’s a trip to a quiet Italian restaurant for "chit-chat" and peer support, a calming afternoon at the theater, or attending our bimonthly support groups and training sessions, the Caravan ensures no caregiver is left behind. Through our partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, we will continue to offer specialized education, nutrition, and health programs right where they are needed most.

Our Partners in Progress
