Healthy Living for Your Brain & Body
Presented by the Alzheimer's Association, Michigan Chapter
Cold weather can affect the cardiovascular system and increase the risk of heart attacks. Exposure to cold causes a contraction of blood vessels as well as an increase in blood pressure, heart rate, and how your heart muscles work. People with existing cardiovascular conditions are at particularly high risk of heart attacks during cold weather. In this session we will learn how cold weather affects your heart health and how to protect yourself during the cold winter months.

We now have a Veteran Service Office at the Center. Russ Kenyon has offered to bring this service to our Members. Russ will be here weekly on Mondays from 12:00 P.M. Noon to 4:00 P.M. He is here to answer your questions and help with any issues you may have regarding benefits, etc.
Jigsaw Puzzle: Monday – Friday, 8:30 A.M. (Recreation Area) – A study by BioMed shows that working with puzzles and other logic games helped improve reasoning, memory and logic. Stop in a work a community puzzle and enjoy the cognitive stimulation jigsaw puzzles bring.
Caregiver Support Group: Meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday each the month, 1:00 P.M. (Craft Room) – (August 10, & 24) and (September 14, & 28) You can read our monthly newsletter and see our calendar for meeting dates. This group provides quality information, support, and resources for family caregivers of adults with chronic physical or cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s, stroke, Parkinson’s, and other illnesses.
