JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Building Attendant
STATUS: Non-exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining the facility, changing light bulbs, performing minor plumbing repairs, stripping and waxing floors, making room preparations, and moving furniture and equipment as needed. The Building Attendant keeps track of cleaning supply inventories, prepares orders, and maintains safety data sheets (SDS) to support inventory. Inspect buildings and grounds for damage and perform routine maintenance. When necessary, clean grounds of litter, sweep walks, remove snow, and perform other related duties.
Kitchen – When necessary would work under the guidance of the Head Cook to ensure that the kitchen is clean and operational. Provides assistance when kitchen staff is absent from the kitchen. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, performing daily scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with sanitation, safety, and infection control procedures, including sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing walls and equipment. Must pay attention to ensuring that dishes, glasses, cups, and flatware are completely clean before being used by participants

Qualifications:
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Experience in building and grounds operations performing general cleaning and maintenance preferred.
- Flexibility with the work schedule is mandatory.
- Understanding and experience with computer and software programs the organization uses, including Microsoft Office products preferred.
- Must be self-motivated, have the initiative necessary to perform multiple tasks in a timely manner, be detail-oriented, use sound independent judgment, work independently, set priorities, coordinate projects, meet critical deadlines, take written and verbal direction, be able to relate to older persons.
- Ability to read chemical labels and material safety data sheets (SDS).
- Must be trustworthy and capable of passing a thorough background investigation, including a medical exam and drug test.
- Must have a Valid Driver's License and Reliable Transportation.

- Normally scheduled to work during normal business hours, the schedule will need to be modified as required to be on-site during events, building maintenance issues scheduled by the Center, or snow and ice events, any of which may necessitate before and after hours and on weekends.
- Opens when necessary and checks the security of the doors that typically remained locked.
- Set up and break down chairs and tables, move furniture and other equipment for activities/events held at the Center in a timely manner.
- Provides and ensures refreshments for participants are monitored and fresh.
- Inspect the rooms and clean all tables after each activity.
- Inspect all rooms, equipment, and supplies for hazards or safety concerns.
- Cleans and maintains carpets, furniture, floors, doors, walls, vents, wash windows, and sidewalks (roof, roof drains, parking lot1), which could require using various equipment.
- Repairs (including roof 1) as directed.
- Landscape exterior premises, including but not limited to grass cutting, weed control, and tree and hedge trimming. 1.
- Painting, to include preparation and cleanup.
- Clean and maintain all restrooms. 2

- Responsible for seasonal furniture set up and storage.
- Loading and unloading vehicles (at least 50 lbs.).
- Assist kitchen staff at their request when necessary.
- Assist with Bingo normally on Friday afternoons
- Change light bulbs, lenses, and ceiling tiles as directed.
- Shovel and remove snow and ice, and distribute melting agents. (During a snow or ice event, will need to arrive early to ensure walks are cleared and melting agents distributed before Staff arrives).
- Coordinates and participates in all emergency drills and environmental safety activities. This includes coordinating efforts with the Triumph Charter Academy School Safety Team during an emergency evacuation to or from the Center.
- Participates in general staff meetings and other meetings.
- Foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers.
- May occasionally transport and deliver supplies and other items.
- Washes and peels vegetables.
- Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or rinses them before placing them in racks for the dishwashing machine.
- Loads operates, and unloads dish washing machine and hand washes when necessary food preparation and serving equipment, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
- Delivers and stores clean dishes and utensils in proper storage areas.
- Cleans kitchen area, tables, cabinets, equipment, etc.
- Sweeps and mops floors daily.
- Takes floor mats up and cleans under them every other day.
- Cleans and sanitizes tables daily in the eating area.
- Disposes of trash and garbage.
- Maintains and cleans storage area.
- Assists in moving/lifting bulk food items, stockpots, trays, etc.
- Loads or unloads delivering supplies and food.
- Sets up banquet tables when necessary.
- Performs related kitchen duties as required and assigned.
- Ensures that all areas are clean before the start of each day.
- Participates in all emergency drills and environmental safety activities.
- Participates in general staff meetings and other meetings and events planned by the Center as requested.
- Other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
- Requires prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balancing, bending, turning, and reaching.
- Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round in noisy and crowded environments.
- Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
- The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and data using a computer keyboard.
- Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading correspondence data and using a computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone service and communicating in person.
- The ability to move, takedown, set up tables, chairs, and equipment; lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs. in weight is required.
- May be exposed to outside elements when completing tasks on the facility's exterior. Most activities are performed indoors.
- Maintain an even disposition under pressure and trying circumstances.
- Part-time position up to 25 hours per week, hours will vary so individual must be flexible.
- Starting pay $13.25 per hour
