As part of our mission in 1998 the Center started Monroe County’s first Adult Day Care program to provide Caregiver respite and a safe, welcoming environment for those with cognitive impairments. In 2008 the Recreation Center was expanded, and the Adult Service program moved into a larger more private and secure location. Today with over 1,630 sq. ft the program can accommodate 21 clients and staff comfortably. With the continued support of the State of Michigan’s Area Agency 1B, the Monroe County Commission on Aging and the United of Monroe/Lenawee Counties the program is entering its 21st year. Facts
Residents Served
We were excited and proud of the fact we served more individuals and provided more hours of service than we anticipated for 2019. We served 1,329 individuals and provided 34,000 hours of service in 2019 to those 60 years of age and better who were residents of Monroe County. Of course we did serve younger individuals and out of County individuals since our goal is to provide a welcoming place that benefits the welfare of all citizens in the community. One of our primary objectives is to offer activities and events which promote a positive socialization experience. We do this on many different levels; from our daily activities, the Tuesday $1.00 fun meal and our special events.
